About
Maxwell S. Briggs,
Is the founder of Arsua Press and an independent author of dark romantasy and urban progression fantasy. Based in Central Montana, his work explores the gritty intersections of trauma, survival, and high-stakes M/M hurt/comfort.
Maxwell’s storytelling doesn’t shy away from the messy, devastating realities of survival because he has lived them. After navigating a chaotic youth marked by early exploitation and displacement, he spent over a decade battling addiction and the isolating fallout of survival mode. He knows intimately what it means to feel desperate and hopeless—but he also understands the intoxicating power of manipulation, the weight of a silver tongue, and the curse of an active mind.
It was through getting sober that Maxwell reclaimed his narrative and his passion. Today, he channels those lifetimes of hard-won lessons into his fiction, crafting deeply flawed, resilient characters who have to bleed and fight for their redemption and their love.
When he isn’t managing the Arsua Press empire or micro-drafting chapters during shifts at a local diner, he is worldbuilding, designing, and proving that the best stories are forged in the crucible.
